Kailua
Whether you live on Island or you are just visiting you have GOT to spend at least one day in Kailua this weekend. Not only is it known for having two of the world’s BEST beaches (Lanikai and Kailua Beach Park) but it is one of the most amazing small towns to spend the day in solo or with your family.
Here are some of my favorite things to do in Kailua, and truthfully, you will probably find me at all these places this weekend!
Kailua Town Farmers Market!
YES! This farmers market is in the parking lot of an elementary school and filled with so many amazing vendors and farmers that bring in fresh fruit and veggies, hand woven gifts, bake stands, handcrafted jewelry, plants, and SO much more! Let me tell you, we have the best time on Sunday morning eating pina colada pancakes and dancing to the live music they have or playing on the playground while I grab some fresh produce. Another bonus: you will meet some of the KINDEST people there.
Lanikai Beach!
This is by far one of my personal favorite beaches on this side of the island, hands down. It’s name actually MEANS, ”heavenly ocean” - and the tranquil aqua blue waters and smooth sand really stay true to it’s name. It’s also usually less crowded and is the perfect beach spot to relax in the sun to read a book or build some sand castles with your keiki.
(If you are feeling more adventure - the Lanikai Pillbox hike is a great hike for all levels and you overlook most gorgeous beach you’ll ever find. So much so, my friend proposed to is girlfriend there.)
Leahi Health!
Food is the quickest way to win me over and there are SO many amazing places to dine in Kailua. One of my number one favorite places to refuel is Leahi Health! It’s a quaint plant-based, food and drinks spot that’s basically right across the farmers market and just outside the trendy shops of Kailua Town. They have smoothies, acai bowls, tacos and they are all plant-based! My number one thing to get is the RAINBOW TACOS! I could honestly eat them every day of my life. They are naan bread with hummus, a green veggie mix and topped with avocado, goji berry, almonds, grape tomatoes and balsamic drizzle. Need I say more?

Kailua, overall, is just an extremely family-friendly town to visit or even live. Living just outside the town, I am ALWAYS in Kailua; whether it’s for a weekend out with the family, self-care at the local nail salons, boutique shopping or grabbing dinner with friends.
This town seriously brings the true meaning of ALOHA to life...
